Sounds good to me.

What do I put the poison in and how do I make sure my chickens, ducks and guineas don;t get into it?

Or my kids etc.

I love the idea of 100% dead fox & coyote too. I just want to control collateral damage.

Thanks in advance for answers.

I think what is going on is that last year the fox found my neighbors place and feasted, and all the kids from last year have stayed in the area.

Many of us here have most of our property as sanding forest of some sort and there is just too much shelter and food here.

Poison would ROCK... If it would not kill my chickens etc...

I can manage the kids, they are smart girls and they want the fox's head on the wall right now... But the chickens will eat anything we toss outside...

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

Update - my wife said "why would't you put out poison at night when the chickens and kids are all inside?

So... what poison and where do I get it?

David

PS - Right now I feel like I cannot go to Church because we will lose another bird!

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

Your assumption is that only the fox will get at the poison, and nothing will move it.

If you have raccoons and other vermin, it will likely be moved to locations unknown. Been there, done that, and the next morning you have an "Oh sh*t, now what do I do" moment that lasts for as long as the shelf life of the poison.

Use poison as a last resort. I would not consider it.
Poison doesn't discriminate. It could kill your neighbors dog or cat or anything else that gets into it. You may be surprised at what all you have running around there. Poison could upset the balance of things and the next thing you know you'll have rats or mice everywhere.
Reinforce your coops or cages for now, step up to the challenge and get the rascal.
Be careful of your backdrop as you have considerable firepower.

You have the bait now you just have to find a place to sit and wait.
You could get a call and call the fox up. Calling a fox is pretty easy, best done at night.
Hunting at night requires the right equipment. If you don't have the right stuff you will just make your pray smarter and harder to collect.

Seems to me it's this time of year that you have rabies virus. A friend of mine had fox problem in Georgia a few years back. The fox went nuts and pretty much attacked everybody, including the dog. It would up in the house before it could be shot. The dog had to be put down because the owner could not produce proof of current rabies vaccination.
Anyway, there's another reason to rid yourself of this varmint.

How about a great Pyrenees ... since I got mine and she lives right in the chicken yard ... I have not lost a chicken.

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

A large live trap baited with a live chicken is the safest solution.... it will work while you are asleep or at work or church.....but rifle is more fun....

Got a coyote problem myself saw one yesterday during the rain in my pasture . got my .17hmr and tried to get closer using the barn as cover but it was gone before I could get in position

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

A fox stakeout while sounding interesting, but might get long and drawn out...time consuming. I would try it first with a decoy or bait & see what happens, but remember, a dog see's movement first(shape second) before anything else and they are masters at it. If you are not behind cover, or behind the scope when he appears and have to move at all, you have a very good chance of getting busted.

I'm with the others, get a live trap and bait it with......uhhhmmmchicken. I will not use poison here for the risk my dogs or mousers might get into it.
