Thursday a large Fox snatched a leghorn right in front of my oldest daughter, 30' from treeline in our side yard at about 1pm. Today while we were at a lunch at Church, it seems to have snagged my duaghters FAVORITE chicken {they trained her to answer to her names and jump for peanuts) right in the center of the back yard. It also seems that two red hens have vanished in same period.

Grrrrrrr!

I'm borrowing an AR15 tomorrow, with spot light...

Grrrrrr!!!

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

They will keep coming back- until you put them down.

I killed one last spring with my little .17HMR- we heard the dog (kept in a pen) barking about 30 min after sunrise and there the fox was- trotting up to the chicken house. We have a yard surrounded by field fence- but we watched him slip through a square hole in the wire.

We lost 3 ducks last fall (they didn't like to go into the chicken house at night). The geese are still around- I suppose there are too large for a fox to kill.

I hope you get him soon!

Sorry to hear about your daughters chicken. You do have to get rid of the fox. Once a predator learns where the food is they will keep coming back. We don't have foxes on our island but there are 6 less mink who like to snack on our chickens. :)

i Lost 4 chickens and 2 ducks to a fox last year. I put out a live trap with bologna and a broken chicken egg. Got him the next day. They are very easy to shoot when they are trapped.

Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!

I borrowed a nicely setup AR15 .223 from my daughter's God Father (He was a USMC Sniper & is not a pro weapons trainer, armorer, and gunsmith - Do I know how to pick a God Father or what)

I warmed up with 10 shots into an old broken paint bucket on the far side of the pond at dusk tonight. The "wounded rabbit" call I got my hand on tonight is a cassett tape version. Tomorrow after Church I'm going to Dick's and Gander Mtn and get a remote call.

I'm going to burn a box of ammo on fam fire into one of my OBL or Groundhog paper targets tomorrow to get smooth on the trigger.

It does not have NODS, but it is set up with a sweet 4x scope and a white light LED...

I'm gonna get them varmints this time.

I'll try to post a pic of the AR tomorrow...
