Funny...

We live 15 minutes from the city center. But in summer I can't see the closest nightbor's house without trying.

Our house is too close to the road...but it blocks the property from the road...good and bad...

I sit here with my laptop looking down at the pond and at the couple acres behind it....I don't see anyone or anything but green...even though up at the top of the hill there are some houses...

I am happy here. It just keeps getting better.

Is this a sign of old age approaching? I'm not there yet...but we all get there sometime or other...

As that line in the country song goes..."Who woundn't want to be me?????"

I'm lovin' every minute of it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do kinda wish I had 37 acres instead of 3.7 though...or maybe 370 or should that be 3,700... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

don't consider yourself as 40 and old, instead think as you are 18 with 22 years experience.. sounds better doesn't it?

Yep...that sure sounds better than 18 with 39 years experience... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now that WILL make an old man of you in a hurry. I look after 150 acres at the farm and believe me that is work. It didn't used to be but it is now and it seems to take so much longer to do. Being 18 with 39 years experience is a booger and I'm still in fairly good shape. It's just frustrating that I just can't do what I did 20 years ago ... or even 10 years ago. I'm learning to live with it though ... trying to work smarter and not just harder.

As you said, slowing down a little bit does have it's advantages. Now I do stop long enough to look around and appreciate what I see. You're right, "Who wouldn't want to be me?". I love it here. Now I better get back to cutting on that "HUGE" oak tree that I lost in the storm last week. Should end up with enough wood to keep the smoker going for the next 40 years and I intend to be around to use it.

Henro,
I like to think of myself as being middle age but how many 116 year olds do you know of?

I sure like our country spot too...

Do you spend some mornings or evenings watching the birds at the birdfeeders that you actually hung from the trees (4 of them) like I find myself doing? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
There are many little things in the country that tickle my fancy more & more. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'll say that I'm "maturing" to appreciate those things (@42 years). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
We're turning into my inlaws... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
