Buying Advice Is it worth it!??

Kday64, I was in your boat about 3 years ago. It seemed like I spent a lot of time mowing, using a shovel and a wheel barrow etc. I had a nice snow blower for my 600 foot long driveway, but it is just as strenous as shoveling, although a lot quicker. I bought a BX2350, 60" MMM, and rear blade. Within 3 months I ordered a FEL, should have bought it from day one. All I can say, it was a great investment.

I don't think you will be wasting your money buying a SCUT, and it will last many years. I went through a couple of cheaper riding mowers, and looking back at it, they were a waste of money. Unless you really like a clean lawn, get a mulching kit for you deck, and just chop up the leaves, its very fast. I leave mine on all year. You just have to get over the sticker shock, the deck for a BX costs more than a lot of riding mowers.

In your part of CT I'd skip the blower and use the blade for snow. Then the package won't break the bank and you get more peace of mind. You have to turn around to operate either. .02

Hi all,

It is official I have purchased my very own Kubota BX2360 and I think I got a fair price.

Unfortunatly I was only able to get the cost down to $17,200, including a FEL, rear snowblower, 54" fine cut MMM and an engine block heater. After calling three other Kubota dealerships in my area I am convinced that I saved about $400-500 across the entire package.

The wife decided that we should get the blower because she doesnt want to deal with the snow once it at the end of the driveway.

So... I AM STOKED!!! Best part is it is suppose to snow on Monday and I will be taking delivery on Saturday! YAY!!!

How did you know that I was out on the town with my new BX? Are you stalking me?

It is raining right now so I am not going to uncover my little girl today. I am struggling to figure out how to link picasa into TBN. Ummm... So...

Here are my initial thoughts.

The BX2360 has super easy operation! It is easy enough that after about 15min I was able to teach the wife how to start and use all of the implements. At first she had some apprension. But after a few trips around the house she was hooked.

The FEL is perfect! Yesterday the wife and I did about 45min of yard work with the FEL. We moved a small pile of firewood closer to the house. The wife was smiling the entire time. I think she liked watching me load up the FEL as she sat in the drivers seat. It was way better then having me load the wheelbarrel then move the wheelbarrrel.

The mowing deck is stout! I regret that I did not buy this tractor last spring. I missing having a lawn to mow!

The snow blower is HUGE and SOLID! The picture speaks a thousands of words. The rear snowblower is almost as large as a BX series tractor. But the 51" deck is made to last. The second stage impellar appears to be made of 1/4" steel and the impellar is made of 10 gauge. This is a very well build machine.

LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!

I have no doubt that the wife will be able to use our new BX2360!

Have you gone out to look at the tractor just to look at it? New tractors bring back that kid at xmas feeling. I didn't get off mine for hours after I first got it! You won't get many presents now that will compare. For us, you getting a tractor is like watching kids open gifts at xmas. Almost as much fun as getting one ourselves! Enjoy!

I don't know much about women, who does, but I have learned that if you want to buy something you make them think it's a big deal not having one, then you take them shopping before trying to talk them into it. Something about shopping really helps ease the sticker shock. If you can work in how your torn about spending the money it opens the door for her to "talk you into buying it", you get a tractor and she gets the feeling like she bought it and the feeling like it was her choice.

Also after you use your tractor and you go inside don't forget to thank her for talking you into buying it. Be sure to tell her how you never could have done all that work or how sore your back would be if you had to do it by hand. Throw in a few I can't believe I waited so long and would have waited longer if not for you. Also point out how nice the yard looks. You'll be surprised just how well this will help you buy attachments down the road.

Very nice! If you drop the deck some more, the wheel will clear the tire. After disconnecting everything, raise the front of the tractor with the loader to get more clearance and roll it on out. For storage, the axle stands are expensive but worth every penny for easy secure storage. Before you put it back on in the spring, put a good coat of wax underneath to make cleaning underneath easier. And when reinstalling, put the PTO lever to rear to make the shaft easier to hook up. Read the manual the first few times and it'll be a ten minute job after awhile.

Hey, harpoonalt-- how's things on the other side of the hill? Haven't been out that way in quite a while!

Kevin, here's a pic of the axles for the mower deck. I agree, expensive (approx. $100), but they really make it easy to store, move around, and tip up for cleaning & blade maintenance; very well made. Worth the price!

I just placed an order for a pair of Mower Deck Axles. If they show up before Christmas I might just wrap them up for the wife. She looked very concerned as I was moving the mower deck into the utility room.

I bought mine here.

These will definitly free up some space in my shed as well!

Those are the same as the ones I got. A stabilizing/anchoring chain is recommended, but I keep mine behind the boat, against a wall; never had a problem with the deck wanting to tip, but where I keep it, it can't move very far anyway. Hardly know it's there! (It's covered with one of my son's old sheets...:ashamed

You'll notice, when you get them, that they're made from a single piece of steel rod, about 1" in diameter, turned down on a lathe on the ends to fit the wheels. They'll last forever. Save the box for summer storage when the deck's on the tractor!

About 10 years ago I was playing Team Fortress Classic (The only real precursor to Halo) under the alias of k_day64 and I was just too good... So after capping the flag and going 179-2 I my name k_day64 was kick banned. I needed another name that was not quite as threatening. Jenny, just didnt cut it, becasue I didnt want to play as a girl. But I figured Jinny could be a chick or not.

Furthermore I am no longer allowed to name vehicles after the women I never had before, because I am married. Example... My truck is named Sara. (I bought my truck before I met my wife. The name stays.)

So to keep from getting my wife angry with me "riding Jenny/Sara/Beth/Amy all day" I decided a made up name would be the best choice.

AKA Jinny!

Well I hope that all makes sense.
