Also saw an ice melter machine somewhere that is gas fired. It will keep up with a big front-end loader. Don't know where they drain the melt water to, probably sewer system.

I'm not sure the southern folks realize how dirty city street plowed snow is. If I melted it and warmed it up, offered you a bath - you would decline.

Let’s see if I understand this; Dump the snow containing, salts, carcinogens, trash and other debris in the water way, kill off aquatic life, pullulate the water then apply for Federal Tax Dollars to clean the water way and re-energize the water way to support aquatic life. Forget anything yes, the part about it didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that would occur if they dumped the snow in the river.

I think you might have missed post #12.

The stuff you mentioned is going into the rivers, bays, and lakes. Doesn't much matter whether it's in a truck or whether it's runoff.

Only real difference is that by dumping, you can actually drive through the cities.

I think the idea is keep the salts and other pavement treatment stuff out of the river. I think Boston is allowed to dump some in the salt water harbor.

I saw an investor pitch for one of these--they were getting some sales traction in Ontario, for exactly this reason: in the snowier areas, you run out of places to pile the snow. But I can only imagine the melter must use an enormous amount of energy.
