Installing new septic system in progress

My leach line has 15' of gravel under it, 40' long. Plus the soil drains in no time. I was there when it was installed but did not do it.

The leach line length and depth is a factor of soil type and the room you have for the field. The rock amount is figured by the square foot- in other words soil type and home size (typically number of bedrooms) are put into a formula that will generate a figure which is the square feet of leach field rock.

So you can have a 4' wide trench with 1' of rock below the pipe or a 1' wide trench with 4' of rock below the pipe.

Al The D-box would have been easier. Your right about the size.... 3br system, but I'm building a quaint cozy 2 bar now that the kids are grown and gone.
I think rather than a T I would use a Y which is pretty standard in any sewer system. 90 degree turns always ask for trouble in sewer systems

I understand. I am a Master Plumber by trade. The amount of gravel was more a favor by the installer rather than what was needed. He is a good friend who I worked with for many years.

I think a tee is better than a D box. Here is a picture of the failed lid on my D box. Long story short, we had back up in the basement. Now I do not have a D box. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=511958"/>

Yikes! I suppose that's a good enough reason! My D-box is only about 6-8" underground. Luckily it's out of the way and not something I'll accidentally run over. (Knock on wood)
