Installing mid PTO on 4400

I would like to have a mid PTO installed on my 4400. Is this the kind of project someone should try themself or let JD do it? I am quite resourseful but sometimes you have to know when to quit.

Let the dealer do it unless you are comfortable cracking open the side and rear plates of the transmission.
