Hello guys,
First of all we would like to thank each and every one of you for standing behind us in our slow times and our fast.
In recent weeks we have had some pretty major yoohaa haa (badword) days here at Markham. So i thought i would explain a few things here instead of having everyone calling and me repeating the same response.
We average orders of 25 or more tooth bars to build at a time. Sometimes more sometimes less. We specialize in Skid steer attachments, Rakes, buckets, hitches, tree booms, grubbers, etc. & tooth bars. When we started Markham in 2002 we never dreamed that our bars would become so popular, for this we thank you guys again. We order teeth on a blanket once a year, we base those orders on what we sold in that month the year before and usually order a little more then that, but not too many, because we are a small family owned business that refuses to go out on a limb too far for fear of breaking the limb and or a leg or two.
We build and ship the bars in the order in which they come in, and can only ship 5 a day through UPS because of the damage these bad boys can cause other freight and not to mention their weight. But on occassion we do have to put tooth bars on hold for different reasons, one we have to fill the orders of the bigger attachments, two- we run out of teeth- three we run out of cutting edge- four- we run out of time. I know you guys have been very patient with us and the problems we have faced this summer, and believe me it has been horrible, steel prices for one- they tried to go up 150.00 a stick on the cutting edge, which would mean tooth bars would also have to go up, almost double to justify even building them. Then we changed the teeth, because we had such a demand for a casted tooth, and that took time, then in between all the pricing drama and changes we would run out of something, then where the steel had gone up, bigger companies had went on a buying frenzy at the old prices which left the small business owners kinda winging it til more could be produced.
To make a long story longer I promise tooth bar teeth are now in stock, cutting edge is now in stock, we are building them up and shipping them back out starting Friday. I have had a couple people cancel their orders and this is fine we understand. This is the main reason why we do not run the cards until we are sure we won't run out of anything and will be able to ship. But in our defense alot of the hold ups have been me fighting with steel companies and freight so that you wouldn't have to pay more either in fuel surcharges or steel increases.
It is also more important for you to understand we are not ignoring you or your calls, we have windstream which is based in india i think, at least that is who answers the phone when we report a problem. It's crazy. Sometimes I run the burning machine or help Allen in the shop and rely on the message center to give messages, another mistake i seem to have made lately.

Anyway hold onto your pants and get ready to dig because by the end of next week you should have gotten a call from me to let you know when to expect your bar.

And again we want to thank all you guys for your comments and your loyalty! And by all means if you have any questions at all over any of our products visit us at Markham Welding - Home, i will be more than happy to help to the very best of my abilities.
Hapy digging, Melissa Markham

They are worth the wait boys (and girls)...the toothbar is the best addition to my tractor yet. I just wish I had a skidsteer so I could order more stuff from these folks!

Welcome Missy, sorry to hear about all the BS you're fighting through, sounds like things are turning around.

Howdy Melissa,
That's wonderful you took the time to make that post about your toothbar problems. I'm sure all the TBN'ers appreciate it very much too, like I do.
I will say from the two toothbars I bought from you, they both turned out great. The second smaller one for my wire's tractor where I sent you a CAD drawing of the teeth spacing came out perfect ... my wife loves it.
Another thing, you have always taken the time to either email or telephone me with questions or shipping information. I for one, am proud to own a Markham toothbar.
Thanks for your great service and consideration.

I have had one on order for about a month now but have not called yet. I figured you got busy, I am patiently waiting a fine product. Good things take time and are worth the wait! Thanks Mellissa for responding.:D

I've been wanting one of the toothbars... but the bucket I have has curved sides (the opening is slightly flared) so just have not gotten around to making the detailed measurements.

And it might be motor freight not UPS... :(

Thanks Melissa, I know even with the delays on my toothbar, the simple fact that I could get straight answers from you was the main reason I didn't worry. I knew that it would work out in the end. Now I just have to bolt it on and dig some dirt.

Melissa, I have one of your tooth bars and love it. Any chance you could teach a customer service class and have Milloniz be the first students. We all apreciate you taking time out of a very busy schedule to keep everyone infomed.
If you could design a lighter weight grapple I'm sure you would have another winner on your hands.

Here's another "atta girl" for Markem. I bought a TB right after I got my tractor last year. (My first implement!) It took about 20 minutes to bolt on and hasn't been off since.

I agree with the comments on your customer service. I wish all my transactions would be handled so well.

Thanks!

Hello Wedge,
We do build a LD Grapple for 50HP or less tractors with a skid steer universal hook-up but we don't advertise it, If anyone is interested here is a picture of one in stock now, it is a 66" single grapple, 3/8 thick continuous bottom tines. The price is $ 1188.00 plus your shipping, but we have a killer discount with several trucking companies and doubt you can get cheaper shipping anywhere. Just let me know if you have more questions ,that's my job!

And the class you're going to teach? :D

You need one at 48" wide and 300lbs maximum for the CUT crowd. If you search here for "Millonzi" you will see they had one that fit the bill for those of us with smaller tractors-but they have mysteriously disappeared from the marketplace, probably due to bad management IMHO. If it was priced at $1000.00 or just under, and available with different pin-on option, as well as the JD quick-attach, and of course the Bobcat style you would have a real winner. There are LOTS of pictures here if you search.

Thank you for the information, we are working on that right now! We can build one 48" wide, it will be a single grapple, and need to be thinner material, the only problem with that is we don't like building any attachment "skimpy" because if it breaks it'll be on us, and we have a great reputation for the quality of our attachments. Let me know what you guys think about this, we build for a JD 400 or 500 series tractor already, and of course skid steer universal which is becoming more and more common on tractors. We need your imput on a new market.

My JD 4110 has a rated lift capacity of 900lbs, that's why the 300lb limit is so important. And, most of the small CUT's do not have the SS style hitch either. The JD's have a quick attach-but it's JD only...BUT it's very easy to build as it's only 2 hooks and two pins. I would love to work with you guy's on this if you need help...

We took a look at the Millonzi LD grapple, there isn't much to it sturdy wise. By the looks of it , I tried to call the phone number and it is out of service. I would like to know what thickness metal they were using in the bottom and top tines, that would help me alot to determine what we need to do to keep the weight down.
