I've done some research but am frustrated so I'd like recommendations from those of you who may have similar requirements.

Requirements :

>- Mowing deck no larger than 48", preferably 42" or less.
>- No striping left after mowing (uncut line between blades)
>- twin cylinder and at least 20 HP, gas or diesel. I'd prefer 24+ HP (I live at 7,100' elevation so I loose about 25% with altitude).
>- Locking differential (I need traction on slippery slopes), 4wd would be nice but I don't think I need it with a locker.
>- Tight turning radius (I have many obstacles to mow around on steep hills)
>- Comfortable Seat (I have a bad back and need all the support I can get)
>- Hydrostatic transmission (no more gear shifting for me)
>- Needs to be able to pull a small trailer (Max. 500 lbs). up and down rough slopes.

For right now let's not worry about price. I'll add that factor in after I see which model(s) best meets my needs.

My frustration : To get 4 wheel steer in a JD your at a 300 level tractor and about 5.5K, adding a locking differential takes you to a 500 level tractor and another 2K!

All recommendations and comments are appreciated.

A Simplicity Broadmoor may fit. They come in 22hp / 44" and a 25hp / 48" flavors. Both have Briggs V - twin, auto traction, a hydro trans and a mesh seat. Not sure if the seat would suit your needs.

I had a older Broadmoor and I don't think their cut quality can be beat for the money.

How steep are the hills? Those are pretty tough requirements.

Seriously?

Good fast or cheap, pick two.

You want a small commercial zero turn that will pull a trailer. That's not so hard really. Gravely will set you right up. Zero Turn Lawn Mowers | Commercial Mowers

Seems he said price didn't matter for now and I don't recall him mentioning fast either.

Seriously.

IMO, a zero turn isn't a good choice for this job especially pulling a trailer on a hill. A zero turn pulls a trailer good, but not on hills.

Around 15% grade would be the steepest. I need to be able to cut in all directions around trees, rocks and such so I can't just go up/down the slope.

I appreciate the comments and recommendations. I'll check out Simplicity and Ventrac also.

P.S. Speed is not an issue. (I'm retired).

It sounds like you had a nice one figured out already, the JD 500. I haven't ridden one in a few years but they sure are nice.
