Importing used equipment into US

Hopefully someone here with importing experience can give me some direction on this;

I'd be interested in knowing what kinds of hurdles (legal/regulation/fees) are involved with importing used agricultural equipment into the US from Europe. FWIW, the equipment i'm thinking of is other than tractors (mechanical fruit harvesters that are not widely available here).

Aside from the obvious shipping arrangements and costs, are there inspections, safety regulations, import duties etc. that come into play on used equipment?

Is there a specific agency(s) that regulates this?

Dept of ag maybe as its agricultural. But if its from a part of the world with no known problem parisites or viruses it may not be tested at all. But the Port athourity will definitly inspect it im sure.
