Gasoline versus diesel

Yep and for many uses, low RPM torque is more important than hp.
Ford managed as did others to make very similar HP and torque curves with their tractor engines. The kicker was the difference in gallons per hour use that made the diesel superior if the fuel prices were similar. The 3000's gas engine had just as much torque at 800 RPM as the diesel.

I couldn’t find any literature on it but Takeuchi released a prototype gas powered T6 skid steer. Honestly I doubt it will be a success. The main issue I see is literally everyone that owns farm and construction equipment already has bulk diesel tanks. Who wants to get setup to fuel gas engines? Skid steers that size aren’t using def and just have DPFs. A t6 diesel model retails around $65,000. How much savings are we talking to go gas? Maybe $5,000? I know i wouldn’t buy a gas one for $5,000 or so less. $10,000 still probably no. The T6 diesel model is rated to burn 2.7 gallons per hour at 65 percent load. I bet the gas one burns twice that much if not 3 times.

The definitive lines between gasoline and diesel engine performance have been blurred in the last 10-15 yrs; however the btu content of diesel fuel always comes out on top.
Cummins Engine has developed a gasoline version of the B series medium-duty engine with very similar statistics.
