Ford managed as did others to make very similar HP and torque curves with their tractor engines. The kicker was the difference in gallons per hour use that made the diesel superior if the fuel prices were similar. The 3000's gas engine had just as much torque at 800 RPM as the diesel.Yep and for many uses, low RPM torque is more important than hp.
