Hi, talked to a JD dealer today and I wanted ask about something we discussed:

1. is the iMatch system compatible with 3d-party attachments from other manufacturers (like everythingattachments or the equiv)?

2. I was told that I dont really need a rear remote valve to operate something like a log splitter, because it has its own valve - what I need is a continuous-flow device in the rear of the tractor. If I dont get an actual remote valve in the back, will that limit what other types of rear hyd attachments I might get in the future?

thanks!

ahhh, ok. Ive confused myself. I thought imatch was for the loader, to swap attachments there. apparently its for the 3-point. hmmm.

1. The iMatch is built to conform to the ASAE (American Society of Agricultural Engineers) quick hitch standard. In theory, all new attachments should meet this standard. In practice, some don't and making them work with a quick hitch may take a little or a lot of work. This is why some quick hitches (including the newest iMatch) has adjustable top hooks which will solve some (but not all problems).

2. He is correct. What you will need is the "Power Beyond" addition which gives you the ability to tap into the tractor hydraulic system. Then you can hook up anything that has it's own valve (as long as it's an open center - continuous flow - system). Most of the equipment I have seen that need a rear remote valve is either home built or intended for relatively large tractors. For instance, if you already have a rear remote valve and build your own log splitter, you wouldn't have to include a valve on the splitter. Also, serious farm equipment often has actuators, lifts, etc that need to be operated from the tractor, which requires a rear remote on the tractor. The major reason I can imagine that you might need a rear remote valve would be a hydraulic top link on your 3 point, which most people don't have. Of course, once you have the Power Beyond, you can add a rear remote valve at any time.
