ih 706
Morning , I have a IH 706 with a loader with several problems , most important to me is while using it the hydraulic lift lever pulled out of the tractor in my hand with no visible cracks or breaks where it goes into the tractor thus rendering my tractor immovable as i have no way to make the loader move up or down ,what was that lever connected to and how do I fix it? My other problem is I have a difficult time getting the tractor into gear especially reverse without grinding a pound which I'm concerned is causing damage . The previous owner claimed they had the tractor split and trans. rebuilt professionally but I'm having doubts about that ! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Grinding gears would indicate that you need to adjust the clutch. With engine off push on the clutch pedal with your hand. You should feel a change of resistance. I don稚 exact specs for your tractor but typically around 1 inch of movement before resistance change. Should be a turnbuckle assembly in the linkage for adjusting this free play.

Been to many years since was on an IH 06 series so don稚 remember how the hydraulic controls were routed. My suggestion is to look at the lever and the area it came out of. Should be some linkage or pivot points that it connects to.

I looked at a parts diagram for your tractor. Keep in mind I do not know your model.

If one of the two levers I have identified in the parts photo is the one that came disconnected, it looks like they just slide into a sleeve and are secured with a pin.

What brand hyd valve controls frt end loader?? I agree with other poster that trans gears grinding indicates clutch disk not releasing or rough pilot brg shouldn't be caused by trans rebuilding

Does your 706 have a TA?
if so pull it then try your shifts.
Also if it has the TA the clutch adjustments have to be done correctly or it will not work properly.

That also has a internal clutching brake tied into the clutch/TA. Look on the left side.
You will see the usual clutch linkage/shaft and also another adjustable linkage.
A manual will give you the adjustment specs.
Till then you can help the shifting by engaging the brakes while shifting.
It will keep the innards from free spinning between gears.
