Ignition switch? 5055D

Hi all, after a day of bush hogging, I parked my JD 5055D for a rest. Went back to start again, it turned over once and then died - no lights, no nothing. I suspect the ignition switch, as it has some play in it that it should not have and did give me issues once prior. Fuses, batteries and relays are good. Does this sound like a faulty ignition switch? Are there generic switches that will work or do i have to go with JD?

What year is your 5055? I suspect it is the cold start sensor switch more so that the starter switch. There's been a number of complaints about it. Easiest way to check is to pull the wire off the sensor and see if that fixes the problem. The wire on my 5055E is at the front of the engine left side just below where the coolant tube connects to the engine.

My tractor did the same thing as yours and the cold start sensor makes no sense, but try it, I'll bet it fixes the problem. My sensor has been unplugged for a long time now.

I had to replace the ignition switch in my 5075E at about 5-6 years old. two of the terminals had corroded on the back of the switch and it was done. Took about 30m tops, used JD oem switch, wasn't expensive.
