I am trying to identify a used kubota. It seems that it is a grey market as there are no safety features and any writing is in Japanese. I couldn't find a model number any where. It is advertised as a L235DT. The engine has 1395cc stamped on it. I've read else where that this is the D1400/D1402 engine. I've also read that the L2202 and L2402 models had this engine. The hood is rather square and the muffler comes up through the left side of the hood. It is a manual shift with 8 gears. Any help is much appreciated!

I'll have to take a camera next time I go see it. I have a L1500DT which is like your L175 same engine anyway. This is newer it does look like pics I've seen on the web of a L2202 and L2402 if my memory serves me well.

Just Google it-I did & had a hundred hits with pics & see if that's it. According to Kubota's site it is a grey. Parts and manuals are available, I have a L2402 & thanks to this site no problems with parts, manuals or advice. Contact Vic at acreageoutfitters.com for any quest. -he has forgotten more about grey K's than most people will ever know. He also has parts & manuals. For parts, Leonard Sheafer at S<sheaftractor@grics.net> is your man. Also, Larry at Dixie Tractor-256-734-6464 has same day shipping, great service & advice second to none. Good luck.

Yeah, I'll need to look at it again. Looks like maybe some of the L1-### models used the D1402 as well. Do you have a ROPS for your L2402? If so, did you find an American equivelant or aftermarket? How about a FEL?

Yes, the D1402 is the engine I have & all I've heard/seen on this post is good. The tractor has the lower brackets for the ROPS but not the upper roll assembly, I've seen them on the web for 500-600, very inexpensive for that insurance. No FEL on my tractor, (it's two WD)-I did a demo at my local JD dealer on an equivelant 28-30 HP tractor-with & without 4WD and the two wheel with FEL doesn't work very well. Just my opinion. I would love to have a FEL & they are available, again I've seen them for my tractor on the web. With all that said, my next tractor WILL be 4wd & have a FEL. Another good site is:Used compact tractors, tractor parts, front end loaders, backhoe attachments, containers, rotary mowers, finish mowers, tractor manuals from Best Used Tractors, mini excavators, bull dozers, heavy equipment.
You didn't ask, but one last thing, there are different opinions of course but Ive seen the arguments for & against the greys-I wouldn't hesitate to buy another grey Kubota. Good luck in your research!
