Iced drive

Waiting for it to melt doesn't happen for months up here. The roads are passable in almost hours vs in urban places where it take days but ice is ice

I have used my excavator on heavy ice to break it up in the corners or steep sections. I have tried a box blade with scarifiers, but it was not heavy enough. I have tried the toothed bar on my bucket and it was not heavy enough. This year I have a power rake available and will try that. I have hear they work very well. I may also change from the manufactured sand/salt mix (which does work well) to a larger grit manufactured sand/salt mix. There is enough salt to take on the ice, but not bother my gravel driveway.

Reading about using a power rack is what got me thinking about other options. But 5000 plus slowed that down so I'm going with 3/8 ground stone . Salted sand tends to get wet and freeze after a while
