Here are some pictures from a watering setup I made last year. This pictures show some of the materials needed.

I believe the wire was 4 gauge stranded.

This 3-point pallet fork came from AgriSupply and was just over 200 with a 2000 pound capacity. My tractor has nearly a 2000 pound lift capacity so this is a good pair for me. Keep in mind water weighs about 8 pounds per gallon so this leaves me with a 200-250 gallon limit in the IBC which holds over 300 gallons full.

I attached a pump from Northern Tool that does 7gpm electric powered. It builds up to 60psi and turns off. It came with quick disconnect fittings so I pop those loose to let the pump drain for winter storage.

You can buy the fitting to go from IBC to garden hose from Amazon and then I got a female hose thread by slip connector from the irrigation section in a home improvement store.

The finished project with the tractor holding up about 200 gallons in the IBC tote. I found that putting a ratchet strap around the tank helps keep it from moving and/or sliding off. Attach a watering wand and off you go. I use this to do watering for trees. It make pretty quick work as it only takes about 8 seconds to deliver a gallon of water.

Excellent job. These IBC totes are really handy for fuel, water, waste oil....

Very very nice

I like it :D.... did you wire it into the tractor or are you using another power source for the pump?

This gives me a cheaper initial method to move water - was/am thinking of doing something similar (in the longer term) with 2 IBC totes mounted on a EZ Trail compact running gear (where I figure I could load 400-500 gallons) and leverage a PTO/mounted pump with a home-built pressure-relief/distribution system for multiple hose/nozzle sizes. (yeah, I tend to overdo things)

Here's my solution with an IBC tote.

HF 40"x48" trailer ($25 used). 12v boating sump pump down in the tank. A vacuum breaker (lawn sprinkler plumbing) at the highest point so the wand won't siphon when I turn the pump off, also that lets the wand drain so it is lighter, easier to lift after each tree, less tiring. (I built this rig the year that I had 125 new apple orchard trees to water).

The weight is way above the trailer's rated capacity but I don't need highway-grade safety margin. Nothing has broken in near 10 years using this.

I need to make one like this.. perhaps one of my retirement projects..

Yeah, they are, but there's no way I could get up my back hill with either one of these. I set one down in the back bottom field on some RR ties to raise it above ground so a gravity watering system would work for the 20 trees I have down there. Old 35 gallon plastic garbage can lid serves as a catch bowl and funnel for rain to help keep the level up.

I have a Sotera Systems pump to move both hay preservatives and water from IBC totes and 55 gallon drums. It has a telescoping pick up for various depth of containers. On/off switch and long alligator clip leads to connect to tractor or truck battery.

Does that little pump put out a similar gpm to a regular garden hose?
