Kubota L3130DT
This is where I began. I have no hydraulics at the front except for the loader. I started shopping and found the Innovative tractor attachments for about $600 but it's only a diverter valve. So I started shopping for full 3rd function valves. The price is all over the place. Lane Shark is $2000 and I don't even know what I need. Like what's C-Flow? So I'm thinking W.R. Long at about $1K since this is also who Messicks uses when not selling Kubota kits. Then there's Mowbility at about the same price. Anyone shopped these 3rd function kits. I have a feeling that there's something unique to my particular tractor where I need to add a bunch of stuff to add 3rd function. If the kit is complete I'd pay $1k but there's no way of contacting them without placing the order and including my question first. I don't want to get it delivered and discover that I also need $900 in parts that they didn't mention. I'd appreciate some opinions.

I will admit - hydraulics is a form of black art to me. Sooo... I found a dealer that would sell a recognized third function valve and install it.

I also purchased my Land Pride grapple from this dealer.

I got a WR Long 3rd function valve. Installed it was $1100.

It is a very neat and in a well protected location.

This was all done ten years ago. It's functioned perfectly since it was installed.

You need to find out if your machine has a power beyond port. If it does it makes things like a 3rd function way cheaper. Then you just need a open center electric solenoid for a dual acting cylinder and the needed hoses.

I believe this type of solenoid is about $350 last time I looked.

Very easy to do on your tractor. Pick the valve you want according to how many ports you want to run. LOOK HERE. And plumb it into the loader valve. You will also need the power beyond adapter and 3 short hoses to do this. Buy your hoses and fittings from the local farm store as that's where I found them cheapest at. You can do a true 3rd function for around $400 with a single spool valve, or for around $500 can have 3rd function and ports for top and tilt as well.

I bought the diverter valve kit from Tractor Innovations for my L2501. It came with the manual diverter valve, the mounting bracket and all the hoses needed for what I remember being about $600. It was an easy installation, and I haven't had any problems in the 2-3 years I've used it.

Some prefer using a solenoid style valve with a push button control.

The Summit kit has a high quality joystick knob with switches, and costs about the same as what you'd pay for the parts, if you got decent deals on them.

You will need to fab a bracket to hold the valve, or have it made. And you'll need to run some hoses.

FWIW I decided to go with 'known-good' and self-installed a WR Long kit. About a grand, about 4 hours of careful install time. Pretty easy, and no messing about sourcing parts or making bracketry.

I went with a tractor innovations for my L3400 last year and love it.

I did none of that. I have multiple outlets on the back of my tractors so I purchased applicable length's of hydraulic hose and applicable couplers plus a set of disconnects at the loader connections so I can easily break the flow if I want to remove the loaders. Fabbed up a bracket and mounted it to the loader lower cross tube for hydraulic flow on the loader. Total cost was about 150 bucks and I control the flow with one of the in cab actuators plus I can remove it at the valves out back if I require all 6 SCV's. Works like a charm for my power angle snowplow. No grapple here, not needed.

I had the dealer install W&R Long valves on both my tractors. Cost around $1100 each, and they have been working fine for 5 years now.

My only complaint about this, or any other solenoid valve, is the fact you can't feather it. It's either on or off. This sometimes makes it difficult to get precise cylinder movement. I get around this for certain work operations by using a set of hyd. hoses with QR fittings, that I connect to a rear remote. I don't need it often though and for most FEL implements, the solenoid valves work fine.

Why do you think a diverter is bad? I put one on my 3130 originally and now on the newer 5240. I tapped into the curl/dump circuit and use a momentary switch to change modes from curl to grapple lid. Easy peasy. I attached it to the loader arm (see arrow at top). And yes hydraulics are very expensive for what they are.

I have to agree I have no idea why anyone would want full on or off, I use a diverter setup, my tractor can barely run 2 ports at the same time anyway. I can almost hold a egg since i can feather so well

I have diverter valve on my large tractor and a 3 function on my MX.
I'll take the 3rd function over the diverter any day !
