Operated the machine without the counterweight on the 3ph for a few hours - too lazy to put it on after welding the chains to the pins on it

Night and day, so much less stability, and really showed me how much time I save with ballast, it was an eye opener how much surer 900lbs out back made the tractor perform.

Also couldn't back worth a crap either up even slight hills. In 4wd, Low, locked diff.

If you havent considered weight on the 3ph, it's likely the simplest way to work better, and stay alive longer!

A good lesson for all. And these problems manifest themselves even more when working on sloped terrain.

Here too. I did some loader work without the hoe attached and had trouble climbing a slight hill with the bucket full. Kept spinning the rear wheel. I needed to use four wheel drive to climb.

I agree totally, it only took me one bucket full to learn to keep weight on the 3pt hitch. In fact, when using my forks, it will only lift about 3/4 the total weight without lifting the rear filled tires off the ground when there is no weight on the back.

Upon reading the title of this thread, I thought the first sentence would begin with:

"Well, the Doc says my broken toes should heal in about 4-6- weeks....."

...but maybe you've already learned that about weight.

Yep, loaded with Rimguard and dished to the full width. Still need weight on the 3ph using a loader no matter what (at least that's my story, and I'm sticking with it!)

That's a good story, one well worth sticking with!

Arrgghh! I had a broken foot last summer. Broke the bone from the little toe to the heel on the outside. Not fun. No more noise about broken stuff, it gives me flashbacks...lol :ashamed:
