I always viewed the media with a decent degree of mistrust. It goes back to many episodes of misleading information. A good example of the consumer news media is when Diane Sawyer did her level best to destroy the GM trucks by feigning a collision with the trucks fuel tank using fireworks as a catalyst.
More recently, A good example with government is we have seen government investigations that are purely political in nature to destroy opponents reputations.

We could all do so much better with trustworthy news sources that help us save and spend better, take better care of our health, etc instead of the latest celebrity gossip or political mud slinging. Its really shameful how these critters peddle wasteful garbage on TV all day. We could be so much better.

Exactly, No credibility with the media today. Just sensationalism and spin of opinions that probably aren't mine anyway. I don't need to be bottle fed, I'm an adult.

Bottom line is, we all die eventually, some sooner, some later but no one escapes the end, no one. Me, I prefer to extend my stay as long as possible bit far as that choice, it's not up to me anyway. All I can do is try to prevent the 'end times' as long as possible. I still have a good list of persons I want to irritate anyway.

It is amazing how quickly a well designed and administered plan was able to get the vaccines out in so little time!

If this virus teaches us anything, it should show everyone just how important capitalism and free markets are to saving the world. Its not a perfect system, but its so much better than the alternatives.
Other countries still chasing a cure after millions were dead. Our cure is already being injected at a rate of millions per week.

But, a pure capitalistic market would mean no free covid testing, no paid health care, no free shots, and no government money going for finding a cure.

Well I think based on the fact that weve had several government assistance programs for 75 years now, its pretty evident we are not PURE capitalist, but we are based in capitalism,,,,, barely.
However, even if we were pure capitalist, I disagree with your assertion. We could (and do) have plenty of free handouts. Its called charity.
Like I said in previous post, its not perfect, but its way better than the other systems employed in other parts of the world.

That right there is the problem. You don't believe things. Symptoms can show up anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure.

People that have COVID can be contagious 2-4 days before any symptoms occur.

Asymptomatic people (those that have COVID but don't show any signs) can spread it and not even know they have it.

Did you go back 14 days before your first symptoms showed up and find everyone you were near?
Did you go back 4 days before that on your girlfriend's timeline?
That's 18 days of you and your girlfriend's life.

I can't remember where I was 2 days ago. Unless you and your girlfriend went nowhere and saw no one in an 18 day period before your first symptoms occurred, you have no idea where it was contracted.

Exactly, I would bet that 90% of people who wear masks are ill fitted, improperly worn, or substandard quality allowing the virus to slip by.
Lets be honest, most of the masks are a false sense of security.
If we are going to wear masks, lets get the right ones and wear them properly.

Getting advice on mask wearing from folks who don't think they're effective and won't wear them ...

Let's say the death numbers ar exaggerated by 50%. So if only 175,000 people have actually died form C-19 what are the rest of us worried about?

We're all going to die someday anyway.

If we don't trust the news, how do we know three's even a pandemic? Oh they lied once, so all news is fake news?

btw, we know that hospitals are owned by China and they're in cahoots to bankrupt the American economy. I heard it on the news.

And don't worry about Bill Gates injecting you with a micro-chip. Steve Jobs sold you one ten years ago and it's your constant companion.

Now if I can just decide whether to wear my painting, mining, or radioactive mask instead of one I just can't spit through.

If you read about the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, there were also the deniers that didn't want to wear masks, social distance, shut down gatherings. At that time it WAS a flu (H1N1) but people just wanted to ignore it so it will go away. People were more ignorant on epidemics at that time but are we any more advanced as a race now? We know much more about the science, but when people choose to ignore it, any advancement breaks down. Maybe in 100 more years we will do better? Will we make it as a species?

I lost faith in what the news stations were reporting after a story ran, where my wife knew the first hand facts, and was the person who reviewed all the camera footage with the police.

The news station doing the reporting didn't have a bloody clue what they were talking about and every fact on the story was complete and utter nonsense

As a police officer many, many years ago, I could tell you many, many stories about the news media and errors made, prejudices of some news men, some sad errors, some hilarious ones; some unintentional, some deliberate. And as with any group, there are some very good people in the business and some very bad.

Not all people can wear the correct mask. If someone has upper respiratory issues, COPD, or the many other breathing issues, then they are not supposed to wear an N95 mask or greater. An N95 mask actually restricts the amount of air your breathing in. It's not a big deal for most people. But can have a drastic negative effect on people with certain medical conditions.

Thats why quite a few companies require a fit test and medical evaluation before authorizing an employee to be able to use an N95 mask or respirator.

Again, the masks are to help prevent YOU from spreading droplets, not to protect you FROM droplets.

That picture perfectly illustrates ignorance of the purpose for wearing masks in this pandemic. He keeps saying the mask won't protect people that wear it. That's not what it's for. It's to protect others. And it works. For some reason, a small percentage of people just can't seem to comprehend that.
