I bought a Fire Truck

I have had a lot of seat time in the L model's. Great visibility from the seat and leg room.

I've never driven one, just loved their look since I was a child. Over the years I've sat in a few, and have been impressed with the leg room as you mention. I'm 6'5" and I love to just see if I comfortably fit in things, may be weird to some, but it satisfies a curiosity in me.

In my dream world I've got a small Louisville dump truck, something useful for odd jobs.

I have driven a few Fords from the mid 70's to the early 80's. All tandem dump trucks. Started with an LTS 8000 with a 6V53, then an LTS 8000 with an 8V53 and 5&4 transmission, then two L9000's with 8V71's, then an LTL 9000 with a 3406B. I always loved the cabs too. And they had good frames. Hood hinges always broke out of the fiberglass though. I got one on this fire truck I'll have to fiberglass.

That's what I was thinking driving home....I hope there is no fires on the way because I don't even know how to work this thing, LOL

So this is not to debate anyone, I respect all comments, but when everyone was debating over if it's a fire truck or fire engine or apparatus....is this a regional thing?
Because like where I grew up, there were three common fire units.....the ladder truck which was the one with the big powered ladder on it. (I'm not sure if they pump water or not?)
Then there is the tanker truck. And then a pumper truck which is what I have.

Oooohhh that is cool! I'm surprised to see it still has the old Dayton wheels. I figured they would have been required to upgrade those.

The local fire department still has at least one truck still in service with Dayton wheels.
