hydrulic oil

does anyone out there know what the difference is between for instance New Holland hyd oil and a brand like Farm King or TSC ?
wondering about with a new tractor (TC30) and old cylinders that have other brands of oil in them when we hook them up looks to me like this oil would be mixed in with the new oil when the attachment is used ?

The first time I purchased oil, I went to the NH dealer and asked for the specific type mentioned in the manual and all I received for the trouble was a blank look.

They sold the same basic oil as TSC.

I use engine oil in the JCB. I guess them being British they like the stiff upper lift.

dumbdog, "THAT"S" exactally what I thought the main difference is the price $16.50 versus $9.25 per 2-1/2 gallon size.....

Yes the old stuff will be mixed in. When ever I use an old hydro powerd attachment on my Ingersoll, I wait till its almost time to change the fluid.[The old Case's, and Ingersolls do not have a hydro filter/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif] That way any old stuff gets flushed out. [God knows what the PO used in there hydro system]

Just depends on the design. For instance, our cat front end loaders use 30w oil in the engine, and in the common hydraulic/tranny system... and that is manafacturer spec.

I still buy the expensive 134 oil for my new holland 1920, but do buy some cheaper oil that TSC sells labeled as for 1939-1952 ford tractors, for my old ford 8N.

The Case/Ingersoll tractors also use motor oil in the system. Eather 20w40[what you can only get from Ingersoll] or 15w40[Rotella is the best] The only time I have had a problem is when I had a suction line go bad, and was sucking air. BTW, If you don't know about the Case/ Ingersoll tractors, the hydro system puts out between 8-10gpm. I don't rember the psi, but I think 2000, to 2500.
