I have a TC29D with about 25 hours on it. Sometimes, mostly when it's not warmed up good, the hydrostatic pedal will stick when I let up on it (ie, when I let up on the pedal it won't stop driving the tractor) and I have to push it back down with my heel to get it to stop. It will do it even when it is warmed up if I'm going down hill. Hitting the brakes won't do any good, I have to push down on the back of the hydrostatic pedal to stop the tractor. Does anyone else have this happen?

Since I made this post, I had the dealer look at it and he says there's nothing wrong with it and that it's working normally. I find it hard to believe this is normal. My Boomer has over 80 hours on it now and I'm still having the problem. When the tractor isn't running, I can move the pedal back and forth easily with my hands and it always returns to center when I let go of it. But, when I drive it sometimes it stays in forward for about 3 seconds (sometimes much longer), even going uphill so it's not just coasting. Does anyone else have this problem?

Danny Y,

I don't have the problem but I think I remember reading about someone else having a problem that sounded similiar and they adjusted the tension spring for the pedal. You might want to search the NH section to see if you can find it. Maybe someone else will remember more specifics.

Danny Y, DaveV may have told you the solution, but whatever it is, it ain't normal. I don't know whether it's an intermittent problem that didn't happen when the dealer was looking at it, or if he's just wrong about what's normal.

It is not a normal thing to have happen. There are grease fittings in two places in the likage on my '45D. If yours has them too you might want to try pumping in some fresh grease to eliminate any binding from a lack of lubrication & to force out any moisture that might have gotten in there. (it can make things stick too at this time of year) Personally I am kind of partial to the synthetic greases. The other simple thing to look for would be any dirt or sticks or grass or other debris that might be causing your binding or sticking in the linkage. One final thought in addition to the spring that needs to be properly adjusted, there is also a cam/bolt that can be adjusted to keep the tractor from "crawling" when the pedals are in the nuetral position. (it doesn't sound like that is your problem though since you mentioned the pedals sticking)

Danny, My TC 29D was doing the same thing when it was new. When the fluid is cold you will get a slow return, however once it is warmed up it should NOT be slow or stick. My dealer fixed mine at the 50 hour check. On mine the problem was that the pedal would get sort of caught on the stop bolt. The dealer did a little grinding on the side of the bolt head & the problem was gone.

remover the two panels under the dash and look and see if the linkage were the cruise control is rubbing against the fuel tank you can do a little grinding on cruise plate to gain more room i have ran into this problem a number of times please repley back and let me know if it worked for you

I may have the problem solved. The tractor has over 100 hours on it now and it was getting worse every week. I was reading some posts about brake steering and everyone was saying that hitting the brakes would deactivate the cruise control, but mine didn't. I called the dealer and he came out and replaced the electromagnet that holds the hydro pedal in position when the cruise control is on. He said it was staying on part way sometimes. Now when I have it on cruise control and touch the brakes, the cruise control turns off and the tractor rolls to a stop without having to touch the hydro pedal. I haven't had a chance to test it thoroughly yet, but so far it seems much better. At least now when I'm going uphill and let off the hydro pedal, it rolls to stop withing a couple of seconds, rather than taking 5 seconds to finally stop.
