Just bought a 2240 and I've been looking for the hydraulic dipstick. I just received all my manuals in looking at it there should be a dipstick as

Does the tractor you're asking about have screw on cap or plastic handle? I was taught to check JD utility tractors built from '65-'92 with engine operating at idle speed, dipstick nut resting on threads. On later models push plastic knob into tube. I searched one 2240 operators manual # 71859 & couldn't locate answer to your question.
