Tractor
2006 Branson 3820i
2006 Branson 3820 started a little rough yesterday morning - temperature around 40F - then ran fine for an hour. Shut down to disconnect hydraulic lines to backhoe due to a leak and tractor will not start. Turns over and pumps lots of black smoke. Acts like it runs on one cylinder for a few seconds, pumping black smoke, then quits. Temp now around 60F. Glow plug light stays on then goes off as normal.
Tractor runs fine with remote hydraulic lines for backhoe connected. Will not start and blows black smoke as described above with backhoe hydraulic lines disconnected?????????? Hydraulic reservoir is full.

Do you have to interconnect the hydraulic lines when the backhoe is disconnected?

As MicroPilot said have you hooked up your loop hose?
Black smoke is an indication of fuel.
I would check the air filter and make sure its not blocked completely off.
Check your fuel shut off solenoid and see if it is stuck half way.

Thanks folks. Finally got the dealer on the phone. The two lines from the tractor must be connected when not in use. He says failing to do so places a load on the engine with the results we saw.

Thanks for the input.

I hooked up the rear hydraulics myself on my 3510. I put a pressure relief valve in for safety because I have a Jinma Hoe and I didn't want to trust it for pressure relief. Nothing worse than dead heading hydraulics!

Nice addition!
