Hydraulic Winch

Have a milemarker hydraulic on the truck and frequent use it for trees. Have to anchor to tree or tractor grapple dug in. While impressive power and pulling time over electric, it is still a vehicle recovery winch.

Thought about something for the tractor. It’s just hard to beat logging winch design. Back blade anchor. Been looking for a used one for many years.

Seems like used winches command almost new winch prices.
I looked for months until a used Norse 450 came up locally on CL at a good price and I jumped on it asap.

I built many pto tractor winches in the early 80s. Used Koenig 8000 and 12000 lb units. Had 9/1 gearing on the 8 and 18/1 on the 12s. Line speed was great and the work drive would give slack under load. I now have a hydraulic in my loader and 3pt. They are slow but strong on my 50 hp. Jd.
