does any one know if a hydraulic pump from a pickup truck would work to operated a small backhoe arm

There is a system for lifted 4x4's called the "redneck ram" I believe. They modify steering pumps for hydraulic assisted steering to help turn big tires. I also believe some off the off road guys are know running full hydraulic steering as well. Google redneck ram or hydraulic assist steering. this might help give you some ideas.
