John Deere 4300
I bought a used JD4300 with the front loader and the JD 8 backhoe. I would like to check the level of the hydraulic fluid and refill it if low. With the backhoe installed, the back of the tractor is not accessible however. Do I have to remove the backhoe? I wonder if anybody has any advise how to approach it?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to move this thread over to our John Deere section. Someone over there should have some advice.

The 4300 has a oil level sight glass in the 7 o'clock position near the rear PTO shaft. Can you not shine a flash light in there and view the oil level? Make sure you let the tractor sit for several hours on a level surface prior to checking the oil level.

I appreciate your reply. I did use the flashlight however with the backhoe installed I cannot see oil level line. I am not sure if it is overfilled or I should add some oil. Also, I would like to drain and replace oil and I wonder if it could be done with the backhoe installed. I never removed JD 8 backhoe from 4300 however I understand that it is not a quick job.
Thanks again.
