hydraulic logging winch

it's almost done.

we should be able to finish up the welding and grinding tomorrow.

paint the next day and skidding tree's the day after.

Looks like a pretty ambitious project. I would like to see details of the hydraulic winch.
Did you use a Hydraulic motor if so what power in torque & Cubic Inch per revolution.
Is it geared down if so what ratio. Can’t wait to see it in action.

BTW - I noticed those Bad A$$ chains on your tires. What do you call them? Did you make those as well? if not where did you get them?

i got it as a complete unit several years ago. here's how i rigged it up to to see if would be worth using it for a logging winch.

there skidder chains. a friend gave them to me, he said they were $1500 when he bought them.

i had to cut them down to make them fit.

OK - I am impressed.
That Hydraulic winch looks like one of those > 10,000 lb nothing can stop it types. The grapple on the FEL would intimidate any log. I bet the logs just lay there knowing there is no hope of escape.
That’s one very fine piece of equipment you have there - congratulations.

Those chains are called "Ring" chains. Great in mud and stuff, but slippery on ice.

It looks like his have the ice corks though..
