For those that know for sure, is hydraulic hose crimped good enough to use as a ground for electrical products? Never thought about it before, just asking.

I think I will break out the meter and check it out.

I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that it isn't. The crimp sleeve is squeezed onto the outer jacket. The ends of the braid may or may not make good contact with the fitting.

I believe if done correctly the sleeve grips the steel.

The hose itself will not conduct, and normal hydraulic fluid will not conduct either. So I guess you are referring to using it to ground the case of the pump or wheel motor or something. It is never a good idea do this, but it would be especially bad if it is a current carrying ground. If you run a current through dissimilar metals, they corrode much more rapidly than normal. In a large sea boat, there are zinc grounds that are mounted to the bottom of the boat, to ground the boat to the water. If the zincs are not there, the current will rot the propeller right off the boat in a short amount of time. Obviously, the problems would not be as dramatic with a PT, but it is just not a good idea.
