I just purchased a L2600DT with 39 hours on it and I want to do the 50 hour fluid changes.
My question is should I use Super UDT in the trans. and front axles, or is the regular UDT OK for this?
I called a dealer and he said they come from the factory with UDT and suggested you only need Super UDT for operating in below o' weather.
The owners manual says you can use either.
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with Super UDT in a gear trans.
Does it help, or am I only thowing money away?
Thank you Ed

If your going to be operating your tractor in cold weather I would recommend Super UDT. Your hydraulic system will run much better in cold weather with it.
Boondox had a seal on a filter go bad last February. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=owning&Number=108671&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post108671>click here for his comments</A>
His comments on how thick the UDT oil was helped to convince me to use Super UDT.
A gear driven transmission will not have the same requirements as a HST driven tractor. But if the extra cost ($$$/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif) does not bother you, go with the Super UDT.

There has been a lot of posts on power steering problems (overheating) that the Super UDT seemed to cure/help, so it probably has some hot weather benefits also.

There are also several posts recommending synthetic trans fluid and people swear by it.

Prob. makes no difference in the front axle.
