L2501
I have a L2501 with a 3rd function, would anyone know roughly the gpm of the 3rd function? I assume there's a little difference in what fitting are on it, but looking for ballpark.

One reason along with others, I'm curious is , do you think it would run a sweeper broom?

Your pump flow is just a little over 5 gpm. That in itself is unlikely to run a sweeper broom.

Tractor hydraulics are sized to operated the three point hitch, hydraulic cylinders, and maybe supply power steering. Hydraulic motors require much more flow.

True, but it does vary. Some attachments are sized to purposely work on smaller tractors (like the Lane Shark FEL mounted cutter for example, and they have some options for flow requirements too.) Whatever the attachment may be you want to have more flow available in the specs for the driving pump (e.g. the 5.5 gpm listed for your L2501) than whatever the attachment says it needs because of losses in the hoses, losses in the control valves, restrictions in connectors, etc. I suspect your power steering (and maybe 3pt too) are run off a separate pump from the main 5.5 gpm one.
All that said, look at the Broom specs and see what it says for required flow. I'm like Chewwy I doubt if you can drive the broom satisfactorily with your L2501 -- but go see. Depending on how much you use it and how important the broom is to you , one could always mount an aux pump at the PTO and drive it that way using a higher capacity pump.

Could you get a 3 point mount PTO driven broom for back of tractor or possibly front mount driven of mid PTO if you have that on the L2501.

Great idea -- beats any hydraulic driven solution probably. You could very likely use a front-drive snowblower which is a standard product with Kubota and substitute a broom for it. Finding one would be a chore and adapting the broom replacing the blower might not be easy either but that would be a nice tool. Seems to me I have seen them in use around highway construction sites. State Road Depts in many states have a periodic auction and might be a source.

Appreciate everyone's input, I was skeptical it would do it, good idea if I keep it I'll have to make work for the 3pt like stated . Thanks again fellas
