I have found that when I disconnect my grapple if I open it up and rotate it forward so it looks like it is biting the ground you can disconnect it and there is no way it will tip over or move. when you come back to it you can easily reconnect.
I have the same Grapple you do from Long and love it there is just some what of a learning curve to operating it.
