hyd filter

i'm new i have mis 160d changed trans oil had to destroy filter strainer to get out.
question at is there metal cap both ends of filter when got it out don't see metal cap at inside
worried still inside of trans filter is 1.25 by 6 inches. hard to find..next question ok to use with out filter

It does not have a flat cap, I believe that the cap is part of tha case that it slids into.

You should find or make another filter, stens has them listed, if you dont you run the risk of damaging the hydraulic pump and that can be expensive to replace.

When you get your new one, check and see if it is magnetic or not.

Mine is not, so I need to put a magnet inside the strainer. It will stick to the flange you bolt on and attract any metal that might have flaked off in the system.

Most tractors have magnetic strainers or plugs now.

It is just an extra bit of safety, same reason your oil plug should be magnetic. It is also a good early indicator if you start collecting metal that something is wrong.
