Good morning all, first post here. Been selling firewood for 8 years now and I am attempting to build a massive log splitter to quarter up those forty plus inch rounds that have been sitting. Couple of questions. Of course im trying to do it as cheap as I can. I managed to acquire a 8" x 96" x 3" piston, a 50 gallon hydraulic tank, and a 20 foot 12" I beam. Not concerned about speed of split, just wanna get the job done. Im gonna load it with a skidsteer. Was wondering if I can use a small two stage pump (22-30 gallon) to power this and what size motor do I need. I have an 18 horsepower just sittin here. Any thoughts? Thanks
