I don't mean to nit pick (yes I do) but I keep seeing hydrostatic being called both HST and HSD. In fact it's both ways in my B7510 HST (or is that HSD) manual. My decal on the tractor says HST. Not really that important but inquiring minds want to know.

I think:
HST = hydrostatic transmission (tractor can be either 2 or 4 wheel drive)
HSD = tractor with hydrostatic transmission and 4 wheel drive

It has nothing to do with 2 or 4 wheel drive.

HST = hydrostatic transmission
HSD = hydrostatic drive

Bascially it is two ways of saying the same thing. Kubota, Mahindra & Kioti designate their 4wd tractors with hydrostatic drives as HST in the model number or with a decal but not within the model name. For example the CK30HST or B29010, which has hydro has a decal on the side HST. Deere calls it eHydro on the CUTs, but it is still the same thing.

Bob, I think we were both close, and both just a little bit off on our answers.;) Your "transmission" vs. "drive" certainly sounds logical. However, according to Kubota's own website, for B series tractors:

HST does mean hydrostatic transmission.
HSE = hydrostatic transmission, 2WD
HSD = hydrostatic transmission, 4WD

there is a sticker on my B2910 that says HST

Yep, just as there was on my B2710 and is on HZ's B7510, and then in the manual for each of them, I think you'll find both HST and HSD and since they are hydrostatic AND 4WD, both HST and HSD are correct; just confusing.
