JD 950
I have read numerous threads and concluded that I need to purchase a box blade vs. a grader blade. I really appreciate the value of experience I always find here. I have a JD950 (30hp) and the 5' bush hog matches the width of the rear tires. I don't know if I need to limit the width of the box blade to 5' or if I can go 6'. The road to my house has a ditch to the right of the road and I don't want to slip off into that ditch trying to move gravel back onto the road. I worry the 30 hp will limit the size of the box blade.

Thanks in advance for those willing to share their experience and wisdom...

I would use a 6ft on your tractor.

I use a 7' box blade on my L5030 which exceeds my tread width.

You can easily control how much "work" your blade does by depth and angle to allow your 30 HP machine to "handle" a 6' blade.

If you use a shorter one, you can offset a little to get closer to the ditches.

Where are you located? I have a good used Rhino 6' for sale.

Mr. Triple, d you have a good LandPride dealer who is reasonable on prices? Im looking seriously at a LP tiller. Western Mo here

My Kubota dealer, Davis Farm Supply, handles Land Pride and his prices are good, but I have bought so much there including three tractors I better get a good price:) We are in SE Missouri.

The LP tillers are really good, or at least mine seems to be. It is an RTR0550 that I use on my BX2660.

Keep in mind, some box blades have removable end caps for grading and the angle may be adjusted.

I'd been thinking of going 6' on my (to be) 55" wide CT235, but one use of this will be ballast while I'm working in the woods, so I'm thinking 5' now. I don't really need the 6' and it would get hung up a lot more.

Quandry.
