This is our first try at cabbage growing and I think they are ready. Right now the outer leaves are spread out to about 2 feet with a ball the size of a softball to a small bowling ball. A stalk is beginning to develop under them so I guess the are ready to harvest?

So....if it is time to harvest how to store them???.......did a bit of research and it seems that they only keep for a week or so and that is under refrigeration.....is that right?

Ideas?

Thanks........Dennis

You can't store them. In fact, it can be dangerous to keep too many around. Being as I have specialized training in cabbage disposal, I'll be happy to offer my services if you'll ship the excess heads, freight paid, to me.

Actually lots of inf online about this; just google how to store cabbage. Unless you have a cool root room for winter storage, you're limited to several weeks on fresh cabbage.
