How to slow down hyd cyl travel

/ How to slow down hyd cyl travel #41
Suggestion taken. I don't use it often but it come realy helpfull at time. I will just have to continue the mod and put anextension on the shifter so I can access it from the backhoe. Thanks for the tip.

I didn't think of it till today what about a golf ball retriever doodad to move shift lever it has a cup just drop it over shift lever and move it?
I don't golf so I don't know how strong they are but just a thought.

I just use the hoe reach back lift loader stick bucket teeth in dirt and work the controls to push it forward and with hydro some times i can just push a little on petal to get it to creep forward.

Well... This is the sort of help I really enjoy... fast and unexpensive way to put my golf set (never used) at work. Will try it for sure...

That could be a problem. The TC33D is not nearly as big as the equipment you have so much experience with. Where is the OP going to mount all these restrictor valves and checkvalves? Andy suggested the restrictor orifice as a cheap and easy solution. I agree. If you put one inline it takes up hardly any space at all. If it doesn't work satisfactorily, what have you lost? $5 and the installation time. I have a restrictor on every one of my remote hydraulic circuits I use for hydraulic cylinder position control. They work great. That's my experience. I have no experience whatsoever with hydraulic swing cylinders on a compact tractor backhoe, so if you disagree with me or know something special about them, then I'll surely defer to your expertise.:)

My design is used on heavy logging equipment and is meant to secure precision control and prevent problems with cavitation and irregular operational effects from air that have been sucked in to swing system from inertial and gravity power....air in the system will make swing hard to control, will create slack similar to when cylinder bolts are worned out....I suppose these small toy-backhoes don't need precision control when operating.....

When inertia and/or gravity takes over, the pump will not have flow enough to fill and under pressure or vacuum is created.....air can get sucked in thru the piston rod seals if it is an high energy inertial or gravity chock.

If you think about a crane that have a hanging load in a double acting cylinder's capped side and you lower the crane fast with no or low pump flow, it will be lack of oil on the rod side, vacuum and cavitation or air get sucked in....

ALSO SE SPYDERLK's comment on my post....

Agree with kthompson about engine rpm's....

Running any crane like equipment on a hydr system with a FIXED pump (constant flow system) requires a variable speed (throttle engine when you need to use more cylinder speed) and slow down rpm's when you need to move slowly. It is a common mistake to set an fixed operational engine speed on a fixed hydr pump....will make it harder to operate with precision and also harder to control crane speed.....and huge losses in form of heat....

IF you have a variable pump (constant pressure system) you can with advantage set an fixed engine speed....just make sure you allow the maximum needed flow....usually the speed just above where the engine peak it's torque is enough....turbo diesels around 1200-1600 rpm....low rpm's means good fueleconmy....
