I'm going to take pictures and gonna try videoing it. I talked w/ a john deere mechanic and he said this is a fairly common problem with these tractors. I just can't believe noone has documented it yet.My suggestion would be for you to purchase the tech. manual from selectmanuals.com, it is $29.95. I have not purchased anything from them, others have indicated they did and no problems reported. In looking at the tech. manual for 5X10 tractors, one needs the manual more to put things back together.
Also when purchasing parts make sure you give them your serial number.
Please consider posting how things went as I think many would be interested in that.
..........but you had to remove the fender. For the life of me I don't see why.
Thanks for posting that. I wish I was at my tractor cause again I don't see what rops has to do with the axle. I reckon I'll have to take a flash light out there tonite and look at it. I'm going into the elevator before sun up and leaveing after it goes down.My comments
You the man. Thank you. I see now. Yup that is what mine looks like. The ROPS is connected to what you will be taking off. I was able to copy a picture into a word document and save as a .pdf, from the tech. manual. The .jpg is the back of my tractor, at least my ROPS, long brass looking bolts hold ROPS onto the final drive assembly.
