I have a rather strange request. I need some ideas for how I can mount a posthole digger on my 3 point. Easy peasy normally. I have always had my digger dangling from a pulley in the rafters. But now I need to haul digger, mower, and tractor to a far-away remote location where there are no rafters (yet). And not even any suitable trees. This is a Frontier 9" auger that is a beast just to drag around in the dust, never mind mount of a 3 point.

I could lighten it by removing the auger and pto shaft, but both are shrouded in pesky plastic shields that are not easily removed.

Perhaps some of you have built a stand or some sort of jig for this purpose. I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks.

When I had a 3 point auger I disassembled the whole thing.
A lot of users here have made interesting jigs, and some also just auger the bit into the ground when storing.

Put the mower on the trailer first, then the tractor with the digger mounted.
After unloading screw the digger into the ground enough to hold it up until needed.

I have my PHD in parts (no safety shields) I mount the main pole to the toplink and hold it up with a ratchet strap attached to the ROPS. Then mount the lower 3 point arms and to the main pole... that holds everything in place so you can mount the drill and PTO driveline. (not sure what to say about safety shields... nothing I have uses them)

I have thought about using the rops and a come-along. But I found a few utube videos and learned a few tricks that worked for me with a little modification. One guy had a simple pair of props that worked well.

My auger is a bit heavier than many, but i was able to set it up without too much trouble once i had a better idea of how to start

@Xfaxman ssuggestionof the hole was mentioned too aandI may try it. Tomorrow, I'll figure out how to best balance this load

This is what I do but I mount the lower U first then the top pole since I have no rops to tie off too. It surprising how light everything is when its in pieces.
