Loader how to measure a fel capacity

That bucket is essentially a semi-circle...I have a hard time believing it is 2/3 CY when only 4.5' wide. Also a striange design...looks like a bucket was extended with another bucket.

Yeah, I bought the tractor used and a previous owner welded on some extra metal. It works out well for me cause I can get a good size load of potting media in during potting up time. I just never thought to measure it in cubic yards till now.

Without knowing the depth of the bucket at the top, height from floor of bucket to top lip, and at least 1 of the angles (either from cutting edge to top lip, or back of bucket bottom to top angle) it is next to impossible to figure the side profile surface area.
Just and FYI, I looked up heaped capactity for a 56" general purpose bucket in Bobcat site it is listed as 9.4 cubic feet = .35 yds.

Lay out a one inch grid on a large piece of cardboard with a pencil and ruler, tape the cardboard to the end of the loader with double stick tape and trim off the excess. Count the number of one inch squares, multiply that by the width of the bucket. That will give you cubic inches. Convert cubic inches to cubic feet by dividing by 1728.

There has been a lot of great ideas posted. So far the ones I try come up with about .80 of a yard. I like the graph paper idea as well. Still waiting for the mulch shipment to arrive so I can measure with the actual product. Just as an FYI, around here a yard of mulch is anywhere from 22.00 to 25.00. One place with a 2/3 bucket gets 16 for a scoop.

I agree with SDKUBOTA 2/3 yd is a bit much for the width - my bucket is 54" round back and heaped its 8.1 CU FT but yours is higher and has the extensions - I would bet is just about a half yard or 13-14 CU FT.

Let us know your results!

Built a one cubic yard box (no jokes on the lack of my building skills, please). Add one scoop of mulch and it comes to...

Just a bit over half a cubic yard. Only 17 inches from the top after leveling it out but not packing it down. Call it a half yard I guess.

I see you got it figured out, but I'm curious if you have access to a truck scale nearby?

My Stoll FC 350 FEL has a 54" bucket that is not as deep as yours...
Stoll classifies it at 1/3 cubic yard...
The extra depth of your bucket has increased your capacity to 1/2 cubic yard...
Good job on getting the exact amount...

I be right down! Just another sugggestion when I saw your nice "box" you might want to keep that as a display to 1) show how much a 1/2 yard is, and two, maybe cut your "box" in half and show another type mulch?

A local nursery to us has a wooden bin/rack with all their products - dirt, compost, mulch stone with the price per yard etc so customers can see (and feel) before they buy..
