Hi everyone, I would like to have a investigation. How much if ask a welder come to your home and weld a 2" length small metal plate on the attachment you there? Not in China, but the cost for this service in the US.

That's small work for me, less than ten minutes. But not easy for someone doesn't know welding.

It's not about how easy or hard it is, it's about the equipment costs, transportation costs, time to get there, set up, prep, weld, pack up, hopefully get paid in cash or a check that doesn't bounce or suck up the 4% credit fees, etc.

Always probably cheaper if you take the plate & attachment to them & let them do it at their shop while you wait. Limit (if you know how to weld) would be cost of a welder/grinder/wire or electrodes/& a wire brush at your location (assuming you have the power connection). My guess total cost under either option is lower in China than US.

The actual cost to weld would be figured out in addition to that but if the customer did all the prep and it was ready to weld it would probably be another $50. If I have to prep it could easily be another $150. Basically $300 to show up and work for an hour, after that it’s probably $50-75/hr depending on the work.

different parts of US different prices. In Silicon Valley, CA no one is going to look in to your direction for less than $800, just to begin with.

I learned to weld, with flux core mig welder it is easy. $200 HF welder, welding mask $25-50 and other things around another $50-100
For $300-400 i'm set for life.

For any work in the US, you have to pay a travel fee and usually a 1 hour minimum for any service work, so $150 is probably a good estimate.

That's higher than I expected. I'm glad I manage to weld well enough for my own needs.
It appears I've saved a royal fortune over the years.
I admit I have had friends who weld better than me who have helped over the years.

Just buy a wire feed welder and do it yourself, then when you are done you still own the welder.... or rent one!

The mobile welder we’ve used charges $250, 1/2 hour to 4 hours. Md, between DC and Va

Around here and if I were to something simple like that, I would probably charge an insignificant value just to cover gas, maybe €20 to €40. And I would give you a bag full of whatever excess fruit I have at the time. Lemons, Kiwis, Avocados, Oranges, Apples, etc.

If you were to take the part that needs welding to my shop, I wouldn't even charge. Same goes for a lot more people over here. Even though it's a poor country, people usually help as much as they can, even if that means loosing a bit of money here and there.

I'd probably come over and weld it for free. One person out spreading good about you is worth more than multiplied thousands spent on advertising. Them people that have to get paid for every move they make, tend to not move that much. I see them, waiting on that next big job, five states over. They'll just have to wait, because nobody around here calls on them.

Never been a huge fan of "loss leader" business, since, in my experience, it tends to never do anything but lead to more losses, & if everyone is doing it, it winds up being a race to the bottom. Don't need to get rich on every job, but if it's a "job" vs helping out a friend/neighbor, it needs to cover costs and pay a fair return.

$100 here, $50 for the local call out and one hour minimum. My local guy is very reasonable with his prices. He gets most of my work and I own 2 welders.
