What the "clay bar" treatment?

And I guess I'll rethink my dish washing soap as a starting cleaner.

Last time I waxed, man, it was turtle wax and a product from Meguiar's.

Clay bar preps the surface for polishing, waxing etc. by removing contaminants from the paint like dirt, bug, tar, and tree sap. Your wax will last longer with a clay bar treatment. If you run hand over the paint after it has been washed and it feels gritty it needs clayed. You can stick you hand in plastic baggie to help feel the contaminants. Here is a better definition of clay bar.Auto Detailing Clay Bar, Clay Bar Lubricant, Overspray Clay, professional detailing clay, car care, car clay, remove bugs, detailing products,

Here is the wash method I use.

Places like autogeek or a automotive paint store carry better grade of waxes, polishes, and glazes than a place like Walmart or a autoparts store.

vanity is to impress others and not yourself ,why waste money to "detail " a car if you can't take care of it yourself sell it and buy a prius , Who cares if anybody is impressed with your car ? that's as smart as waxing and buffing a dozer ! Many a man has lost perspective trying to impress others ! autogeek ? really ? why would anyone care ? Find something better to do with your time ! you're only here for a short time why waste time for a fruitless endeavor like trying to impress anyone !

I scrub the crud off my van every year or so with a stiff bristled brush. My best guess is that the soap and water cost less than fifty cents.

I know it's been at least 20 years since I applied and wax or polish. But at least our two vehicles are parked in an attached garage.

Bird, the paint on my Y2K GMC Yukon XL still looks factory new, although I have tried to keep it clean and given it a coat of paste wax every spring, I think the major reason it still shines is because it has always been garaged when not in use. Yes, the sun in Michigan is not as intense as that in the southern states, and I think the low mileage (41,000) is an indication of how much it is actually driven. I truthfully feel the garaging which keeps it out of the sun is more of a factor in paint preservation than the washing and waxing.

Yep, being able to park inside, out of the weather, saves wear and tear on the vehicles and the drivers, too. And one of the discounts shown on my auto insurance is for housing them inside a garage.

So if I should not keep my vehicles clean because that is vanity does that mean I should quit taking showers? Cleanliness is next to Godlyness:D

I replied to having your car/truck detailed and paying some one else to do it ,i think everything you own should be maintained ,but if your too LAZY to do it yourself having someone else do it is vanity .
