We have eaten steel cut oats for years- but just boil them on the stove. Sometimes I just add some to shredded wheat for a different texture.
I like Bob's Red Mill. I am buying organic all purpose flour for my bread made by them. I look for deals on it.

We used to boil steel cut oats on the stove too but it takes 30 minutes and you have to watch them. These new fangled electric pressure cookers make cooking grains and beans so easy it's faster than making pancakes. Not quite as fast as making toast. Nothing to monitor, just add ingredients,choose cooking time and start. That's has to be one of the highest best reviewed products I have ever seen on Amazon! :D

It's actually a pretty simple device. I'm sure you all know the benefits of pressure cooking but it is also a bit of a hassle when done stove top. This thing is basically a rice cooker with pressure seal, steam release valve and timer. All the preprogrammed buttons on the front don't matter. Just add the time you want and push go. It really changes how you think about cooking dry beans or grains because the cooking time is just minutes and you don't need to be there to monitor the thing. Soup is trivial too. Add the ingredients, cook for ten minutes or so and then put an immersion blender right into the pot. Presto, "it's soup".

Me? I'm a professional eater. Don't do nary cooking. I try to eat like me Grand Pappy did over 100 years ago - all natural. Real old fashioned stuff. Eggs from real chickens that know how to scratch for a living then sacrifice their lives so I can eat their hind legs, real milk from same kind of grass eating cows like the scratching chickens, that be 100% whole real milk I'm talking about. None of this chalk water mess that'll make ye gag. None of that gubmint modified mess (GMM?). Now, I can cook some good eggs. And, I've learned how to make some mean oatmeal.

This thing is basically a rice cooker

I really don't eat much rice I remember back my cousin married a girl from the Philippines after his time in the Navy. Started buying rice in 50 lb bags :D

Beans and soup. I love making soup! Turkey and Rice, Minestrone, Corn Chowder all come to mind. Even Pea soup sometimes. I make a maple syrup baked bean (navy beans) on occasion. My Nurse friend eats Lentils like all the time...not me :rolleyes:
