It doesn't make any difference how many it takes to change a light bulb. Just please save all your burned out bulbs for me. My wife wants me to build a dark room! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is there a way we could get Ramon49 to mention that his L3130 is underpowered and tie the light bulb into the theory of why that is and how he got shafted.

My only thought was when he bought it, they were giving light bulbs away as a door prize. He got mad when they wouldn't work, blamed Kubota for conspiring with the bulb companies for this condition.

Gatorboy, working as a double agent for Ramon49 tries this thread to see how many people will get upset with light bulbs before transitioning into the L3130 theory........

I might be close here huh fellas. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Anyway, LED technologies will soon render the light bulb obsolete )

Naa. I doub't it. Not for a looooooooooong time to come. Too many other uses for incandescent lamps for -other- than lighting purposes, where a LED simply would not be an acceptable replacement.

The designers of the solid state transistor said the same thing about vacume tubes. And here we are in 2005, and the best guitar amps are still the 'warm tube amps'.

Many applications use a lamp as a heating element.. LED would not be suitable there. Some appliances use a lamp as an excess load indicator/power bleeder/fuse, etc.

( Don't forget the 124 posts condeming people for buying lightbulbs/lamps at Wal-Mart.
)

There will probably also be a discussion about 'synthetic' bulbs.. and then a bunch of acronyms.. like TBN.. TDS.. and for heavens sake.. home test kits to see if your light bulbs are working!

Don't forget, we need to debate why we drove our pick-up instead of a small tin can to Wal-Mart and then why we sat out in the parking lot with the truck at a "fast-idle" while are wife ran into the store to pick-up the lights bulbs and "Just a couple of things. I'll only be a minute." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ......4 hours later I get to go back home and install the light bulb that blew out while I was trying to do......

There are some articles on the net about using led bulbs for lighting your house.. but these are geared toward solar power.. and the houses have 12 volt power running through the house.

But like you said.. couldn't replace the heat lamp.. which reminds me.. I have to get the baby chicks out of the living room this weekend or my better half(fiance) will kill me! The cats & dogs just love watching them.. I think it's like "chick" TV!

What are you folks paying for bulbs right now?

Here it is

$.29 for 60w
$.39 for 100w
$.59 for 3way

I can remember my mom and I going downtown to the Edison store and getting bulbs for free.

Are the chinese using so many now that they are running up the cost?

We need to stop buying all of those 300cx loaders!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I use a lot of bulbs. Where can I buy an attachment to change my bulbs? Either a 3pt or FEL (skid steer mount) will do. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You also forgot the ones that state you must use anti sieze on the threads, and then the debate over that or oil to lube the thread, and then you know where that will go, synthetic or dino, then the analysis of why synthetic will work better /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Do you use 240 volt globes in the USA )

Vin, I haven't heard the word "globe" used in that context in 25 years. Thank you, it brought back some good memories. It's amazing what you forget until triggered by a word or casual phrase.

In answer to your question, I've never seem a domestic light bulb in the U.S. that wasn't 110 volt, screw type. I have seem some special application 240 volt bulbs but I've never seen a bayonet fitting. I may be wrong but that may be a strictly Anglo thing.

Amazingly, no one has yet added:

16 to proclaim that only green bulbs are worthy.

14 to state that the only bulbs of true value are orange .

3 to claim the shade of ornage was ripped off from another bulb maker.

6 to plead that red bulbs are the least expensive.

8 to lay claim to the subtleties of blue bulbs.

2.5 to claim theirs is the only one true red bulb, and it isn't made in Korea, thank you.

1 to chip in that his brand of bulb loader works better than that other brand of bulb loader, both of which, incidentally, are designed to work on red bulbs--but only as long as they are Korean made red bulbs.

And lastly, 17.8 to loudly proclaim that it doesn't matter if the bulb is red or green , just as long as it bends in the middle.
