Here's my question: how tall is your tractor with the ROPS up? I'm going to be putting up a barn, and I want to make sure the door for the tractor is tall enough -- I plan to have a separate entrance for the tractor that takes into account the concrete pad from a barn that used to be there.

I have 1" clearance on my 8 ft door, although the ROPS on my tractor is not standard and somewhat taller then standard, ;)

Think! Will I ever have a bigger tractor? Will I ever put new tires on my exsisting tractor? Will I ever add a roof or cab to my tractor? Will I ever put new lights on my ROP?:confused:

Make the door as wide and tall as your plans will allow! After it's done it's harder to make them bigger then!

My 2210D just barely makes it in my (standard height) garage door w/the rops up. I mean, it touches the top of the door frame as it goes through. If it was one inch higher, I would have to take the pins out and fold it down...............

Sounds like a 10' door ought to cover me... unless I get completely crazy buying bigger and bigger tractors. :drink:

I specified a 10' door and in reality only got about 9'10". You would be amazed at all the ways contractors will try to lower your garage door. I was there every day and I measured and cracked the whip, but I still got shorted.

I would go for 11' just to be safe...

wrong contractors :D I would have request 10' 1 1/2 in the rough frame opening, By the time I add the 2x8 for the encasement you would have been right on the money, well except the 3/8 weather stripping that seals the door across the top and sides,;)
I do know what you mean though, I always had to remind the framers to take off that 1.5 inches,

All I can say is don't add chains to the rear tires.;)

The bigger the door the better. :p I have no issues with over head clearance getting into the barn as we have 12' doors.:p The top of my ROPS wont be hitting the top anytime soon. :p;):D

Actually where my tractor sleeps is in the barn and has a 10ft door, but when I do service him I bring him into my shop that has the 8 ft doors, and as long as he behaves himself I let him keep company with my other 2 lawn tractors in the shop :D
