How long will the human race last?

This question brings to mind one of the best albums (CD's) of all time IMHO, Roger Waters Amused to Death. For those who know it, the lyric goes, "this species has amused itself to death."

Hello all, here is what I think of it:

God cares for the earth:

Psalms 65:9 You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.

Collossians 7:17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

We also have the command: Be fruitful and multiply. This means that if the earth fills up with people, He will sustain it. We need not worry about the earth being overtaxed by people.

We do need to make sure we know the Savior and have salvation.

Lee

Another great answer. Nations and people experience feast and famine as they listen to or ignore God. He'll give us what we need.

I remember when Marcus was President of the Philippines, He fired his Vice President... Nope, didn't need one. Marcus would harvest organs to keep him alive forever. DIDN'T WORK. Died looking like he!!. He still plans to return and rule.

99% of all the species that have existed are now extinct. So long as we have all our eggs in one basket (Earth) it's only a matter of time until we join them.

Exactly, until we colonise space there is no guarantee of our survival as a species, in fact it is guaranteed that we will not survive due to one of the many factors that could come into play, either man made or natural. just a matter of time.

With our intelligence as well as common animal survival instinct, it should be the entire worlds primary goal to seed space. Even if it takes every last resource on earth to do it. Unfortunately we have so much intelligence it gets in the way of our instincts, things like religion and politics for example.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no trekky. I love the natural Earth, but it is a precious gift that unfortunately does have an expiration date.

Pretty deep subject for a tractor site :)

I wouldn't question anyone for their belief system, with the way Man is heading in our evolution, science is not the answer to everything.
Right now IMO our greatest threat to survival is the scientific laboratory, either intentional or mistaken blunder.

So hope and faith may be our best chance.

Been in Somalia lately.:p

There is to many people allready and it shows.
Double the population and all he!! will break loose

Except that the current famine in the Darfor, East Africa, North Korea, etc is all man made. Thugs in charge keep the food from the people. Their lack of food is easily fixed if the Warlords would let in the food. The number of people is not the problem. The problem is the people who use food as a weapon.

I agree that science can be dangerous. I see that its danger is from accidental circumstance tho -- not systemic. It is science that has made possible the huge human overload on the Earth. Unfortunately science has not yet found a way to make it sustainable. Perhaps those break thrus will happen. Perhaps a biological mutation will wipe us out. Anything will be construed as Gods will by faith, and therefore good. Our best chance there is a total toss up -- Not a system.
