How long before Compact Diesels are obsolete?

Just curious, but how does all this Jeff Bozos, Amazon, coal fired generation relate to compact diesel tractors becoming obsolete? I read the original post, and the current conversation is a ludicrous extension of that, having zero to do with TRACTORs on TRACTOR BY NET.

It's all connected by bits and bytes...even tractors.

Amazon just refurbished a coal plant to power their AWS server farm in Wyoming because coal is plentiful and cheap. You know, the company that is going to be all green in 10 years.

Slight of hand is alive and well in the good ol' USA.
Got any links to that?

Microsoft is in the process of building their server farm and it's being ran by coal. We have the worlds largest super computer, and it too is ran off electricity powered by coal. See a trend here?

Amazon will say their green by buying carbon credits elsewhere...

Carbon credits aren't really much of a thing any more in high tech although they've definitely relied on them in the past. And which data center is Microsoft building that will run on coal? I haven't heard of that but if you have a link maybe I can learn something today.

They recently stated that by 2025 they'll run on 100 percent renewable energy, and by 2030 they will go diesel-free as well (for the backup generators). By 2050 they also have a goal to literally remove all the carbon from the atmosphere that the company has emitted since its founding in 1975, and that includes their supply chain as well. Will they reach that goal? Time will tell but some of those carbon removal activities have already started. Microsoft isn't the only one with these types of goals either.

This is all real and it's happening today. There is no slight of hand conspiracy to simply rearrange the deck chairs while we continue to literally pump trillions of pounds of carbon into the atmosphere each year hoping it'll have no impact. Tractors will evolve and diesel engines will soon die ( <- staying on topic! ) but I see that as a good thing for reasons already stated. In the meantime I'll continue to drive my diesel tractor and my gas guzzling truck and enjoy every minute of it but I anticipate they'll be the last fossil fueled vehicles I will ever own.

So back to the original thread. Electric tractors will come - gradually. Most of us TBNrs will probably use our beloved diesel CUTs untill the day we die.

Suburban warriors will love having electric SCUTs. Orchards, vineyards and nurseries will be early adopters. Farmers will too, once Deere and Fendt decide they should. 5-10 years from now Muhammad will add an Electric Tractor Forum to TBN. He is a young entrepreneur, so I can see him also starting Electric Vehicles by Net.

Future deniers aren't upset because they think Electric Tractors / Electric Vehicles might happen, but because they know it will happen.

The Farmtrac electric tractor has just been introduced here in Portugal this week.

At a price of €33500 ($40800) versus €12700 ($15500) of the diesel version, not sure how well the electric one will do. Specially considering that for some reason, the electric version loses 300 kgs (661 lbs) lifting capacity on the 3pt versus the diesel one.

The electric one uses a 18kW 3 phase electric motor to power the hydrostatic transmission and the PTO. A smaller 2.5kW motor powers the hydraulic pump for steering, 3 pt lift, remotes, etc.

The O.P's premise is girded with foolishness. The energy to charge your batteries will not be available. Not enough generation capability, not sufficient transmission capability, and not enough skills to repair them, considering that they would be much higher than 48v and now just another danger to an operator: being electrocuted or burned by a mishap.

But dream on. Your ideas are riding of the 'generosity' of people who turn energy into food, appliances, and everyday living needs. The thermodynamics of your proposal alone will turn a nation into a small commune.

Now to Glenrock petroleum's credit, they are tying do to carbon capture...which when you have AWS money behind the scenes, you can do that.
