I was at a grocery store at 7:45 am today that opened at 8 for seniors only. A young man came from the parking lot and tried to cut in at the front of the line, but an old lady beat him back into the parking lot with her cane.

He returned and tried to cut in again but an old man punched him in the gut, then kicked him to the ground and rolled him away.

As he approached the line for the 3rd time he said, "If you don't let me unlock the door, you'll never get in there."

That was funny.

Glad my Mom is gone and not having to live through it. Sorry for you.

Getting harder to tell what day it is. Figured a while ago that my weekly pill container helps as long as it is partly used. Can tell what morning or afternoon the next pills are for.

Our preacher is trying to keep our church going with youtube things about every other day. Have had 2 youtube Sunday services, but the last one was a problem. Ended up with only 6 or 8 online near the middle to end.

I just got back from a 12 mile ride on my "new" e-bike conversion.
Riding our gravel back roads, I encountered one walker, and one vehicle. I rode past a couple out preparing their garden. Everyone waved a greeting, as did I.

If the electricity stayed on, and groceries magically appeared in the pantry and fridge*, I could get used to this.

* (Don't forget to keep the tractors fueled up!)

I’m actually very lucky. I can farm on my own and I’m considered “necessary”. My wife is a school teacher and is teaching via “zoom” from home. I feel bad for my kids. My son is a Division 1 athlete and along with his Spring semester, his spring lacrosse season was cancelled. My daughter is a HS senior and was looking forward to winning a state title in girls lacrosse. It’s doubtful she will have a graduation ceremony and will miss her entire season.
Me and my wife- fine.
Kids- a little sad.

I am 69 with emphysema and some heart issues, the wife is 73 and also has heart and lung issues. Her testing prior to valve replacement is on hold for now. She stays home while I run for food and/or horse feed, etc. while taking as many precautions as I can.

While she is crawling the walls with boredom, I am doing just fine.

Being on SS and a pension, I also drive school bus. This week is spring break so I am totally off from that but for the previous two weeks, we ran our respective routes doing "meals on wheels". We are under a contract for four hours a day. The first week of delivering food, the school district gave us 2.5 hours and requested that we find something to do around the campus for another 1.5 hour. That stopped for week two with just the food run but we still get our four hours of pay per day. We were also requested to take our temperature prior to coming to work.

A staff member goes along and hands off the bagged food to whomever runs out from the houses. That cuts the social distancing down to a couple of feet so it is a concern.

Word had it that next week we will go out only two days with a weeks worth of food. As I type this, out county has no known cases but they are starting to show up in the six counties that surround us. This to may come to a halt.

Meanwhile, I am doing what I always do. Tending to our property and horses. What with the horses shedding out their winter coats and the grass growing, I hardly have to worry about running out of things to do.

I got word yesterday that the assisted living home where my mom lives has a resident that has tested positive. I know that the staff and administration there are doing the most that they can to protect everyone involved. The administration did not try to hide this from anyone, and let families know as soon as they found out. But this virus doesn't seem to care what anyone does to protect against it.

My mom will be 89 later this month and is in fairly good health, but she suffers with dementia. I doubt she would survive if she does get the virus.

Under normal circumstances our latch string is always out but with over 7,000 Covid cases in Michigan the wife and I have curtailed our social contacts for the time being. Huge bummer as we both enjoy entertaining and are active in our local Episcopal Church. But for the wife grocery shopping (and keeping the libation cabinet stocked) I have not been off the reservation for 3 weeks and it appears another 4 weeks to go.
The good news, i知 Getting a ton of stuff done.

Yes I agree. I’m using this down time to paint my office and replace the flooring. It needed some redecorating. So in a way, the closure gives me an opportunity to do something that I needed to do but couldn’t justify closing for 3 weeks to accomplish. Making the best of it. Hopefully this federal PPP loan will be approved.

I'm a mile back off the highway and, candidly, admit to driving with the wife out into the world every few days just to make sure it's there. We sometimes stop at a drive-thru for coffee or a sandwich, but usually just drive and look. We're 75 with a few issues, but basically healthy. At home I'm again trying to revive a huge old 1998 Cub Cadet 3185 I was given five years ago. I've rebuilt parts of it but kept my investment to $150 in parts. I hope to get it running just to prove to my wife that I haven't wasted money and time on it. Funny thing is that, restricted to home mostly, times seem to have accelerated. I barely get something done when it's time for supper. You would think time would drag, but it doesn't.

My life has changed very little. My favorite Chinese restaurant closed a week ago. I seldom go into Spokane. I live out here on 80 acres, near the old town of Amber, and my closest neighbor is 4 1/2 miles away. So, I guess you could say - I've learned to live in isolation.

The ground is still too wet to do anything with the tractor. Brownie, my Cocker Spaniel, & I go for walks two or three times a day.

However - I do wish we could see an end, in sight, for this pandemic.
